Hello Everyone! Create joy in your day by giving your child the gift of music! It has been a wild ride! There are just no words to describe what we are going through ...however, I feel the need to share my decision to offer both In-Person and Virtual-Only registrations this school year…for as long as the health department guidelines allow...and my individual locations allow.
The #1 concern going forward is everyone’s health and safety, including both physical and mental health. Requests have been coming in for “In-Person” as well as “Virtual-Only” Kindermusik. Reality is — families are looking to get out — safely. Honestly, I’ve had a tough time working through the various scenarios for class...How would I create a meaningful experience “Virtually”, for a child who has never met me in-person pre-covid? How do I keep everyone, including myself safe? The answer finally flowed over me in a peaceful wave ... I DON’T DO IT ALONE! A parent HAS ALWAYS BEEN a child’s most important teacher. All of the trusted caregivers that come to class with our Littles are true allies when it come to elevating our classes to a M A G I C A L E X P E R I E N C E each week. You all take that small hand of that beautiful child and guide them joyfully through the curriculum with me...this time we will just be adding a layer of safety. This is our new normal for the foreseeable future. The only way forward for my family, is to develop unwavering safety habits that afford us some confidence as we move in, through and out of public spaces. With creativity, and little light–heartedness, we can do this—Together.
Kindermusik Enrollment during Covid-19 Each year my goal is to create an interactive and engaging musical experience for your whole family to enjoy together! An environment that you can look forward to each week with your child. The “magic” of the Kindermusik experience has always been: 1-part great music, 1-part enthusiastic leader and 1-part parental bonding … with your child and with the rest of the village. No doubt all true. But to a child, I believe it is about something much more simple, but none-the-less magical —- each week their grown-up STOPS, for a set amount of time, and simply PLAYS with them! Without interruption! No wonder they love Kindermusik! “Is it a Moosik class day” so many of you share...year after year. This “Magic” can happen in a classroom or in your living room. Spring 2020 was a testament to that for sure :)

Next, we will explore our short MINDFUL KIDS exercise and then move onto our “magical” music activities :) You are encouraged to follow them in your own way. The number one goal is connection and enjoying time together, so make the activity work for your child! Feel free to hop on and hop off as needed—we know that life with a young child is full of unexpected surprises, and it’s totally OK if you need to take a little break during class.
Tips for Online Learning with Little Ones Have your computer plugged into the ethernet (if possible), or have your device close to the router so you have the best internet connection to avoid lagging. Have the KM by Lynda instrument kit (Cost is $30 and available to the first 100 families ) nearby so you can access the specific instrument when called, + gather any instruments from around your house, or make your own. I text families on the roster for each class just prior, letting you know what, if any, special items to gather. Something to tap: drum, tupperware, bowl or pan Something to shake: maraca/shaker, dry rice or pasta in a container or spice shaker Something to wave: a scarf or kitchen towel Something to roll: inside safe ball Everyone can join. Parents, nannies, siblings, pets…the more the merrier! If someone in your house plays an instrument, we’d love to hear it! Just let your teacher know at the beginning of class so we can plan it into the lesson time. Camera use is up to you. You are welcome to set your camera to be on or off, depending on your preference. HOWEVER, if incognito is you choice, I ask you text me just before you hop on so I know it is you. Not always obvious and just to be on the safe side, I like to know who is tuning in. :) Online classes are not meant to be “screen time” or a “show” that your child watches, but rather a time to be together, break up your day, and spark some joy. In fact, Kindermusik virtual classes can totally be done without the children watching the screen at all if that’s your preference! Just put your device somewhere out of THEIR view, but where you can still see it and follow along with the activities. Here is a cute list about the types of children and parents who enjoy ZOOM Kindermusik classes: Children who: love the spotlight, love to hide (peek-a-boo!), are learning how to talk, are learning to play the piano, love to dance and sing, love to eat breakfast during class, love to bring their toys to class, love to talk (fun!), love to be quiet (heavenly!). Grown-ups who: like to dance (we burn calories just watching you!), like to sit on the floor or the couch and take a well-deserved break (we feel you!), love singing, love dancing, love their children, love other people’s children (like the many fabulous nannies, au pairs, siblings and grandparents who join us!) Grown-ups and children who love to laugh and sing and move and be creative. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!! |
